Wuntanara are proud to be back at Africa on the Square 2018, representing Guinea Conakry!

Catch Wuntanara performing in the parade, and leading our legendary free drumming and dance circle from 12-6pm!

Wuntanara Drum and Dance All Dayer – Sunday 11th November 2018

Come and join Souleymane Compo and the Wuntanara family for our next day-long celebration of West African music and culture. Choose from 4 fantastic drumming and dance workshops, led by 4 outstanding artists. Everyone is welcome!


12.00 – 1.30 – Djembé workshop led by Souleymane Compo
1.30 – 3.00  – Dundun workshop led by Ansoumana ‘Vieux’ Bakayoko
3.00 – 4.30 – African Dance workshop – Beginners & Improvers – led by Anna Zakrzewska
4.30 – 6.00 – African Dance workshop – Intermediate & Advanced – led by Abram Diallo

Venue: Flow Dance London, 1-3 Brixton Road, Kennington Business Park, Canterbury Court Unit 3, SW9 6DE.

Early bird prices (pay by Wednesday 7th November):  1 workshop = £15, 2 workshops = £27, 3 workshops = £40, 4 workshops = £50
On the day prices:  1 workshop = £18, 2 workshops = £30, 3 workshops = £45, 4 workshops £55
Djembe hire: £2

Dunduns will be provided for the dundun workshop, and limited djembes available for hire for the djembe workshop. Advanced booking is essential if you need drums!

Regular classes

African Drumming Classes with Souleymane Compo

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn traditional rhythms from Guinea Conakry in West Africa and develop your drumming techniques, with Master Drummer Souleymane Compo. Everyone is welcome!

The classes run on Sundays, from 6.30 – 8.30pm, at 2Inspire, 1a Wendover, Thurlow Street, London SE17 2UD

6.30 – 7.30pm – Djembe class
7.30 – 8.30pm – Dundun class

1 hour = £10, 2 hours = £20.
Djembe hire £2.
£60 for 4 weeks course, if paid up front.

Dances of Guinea course with Abram Diallo  – Saturdays from 12.30 – 2pm at Morley College, SE1
